An Exploration
of
"The Woman"
The collection “The Woman” emerged as a project to explore womanhood, creativity, and authentic expression during a time in which political shifts endeavor to suffocate self-liberation and unfettered artistic expression. The source of inspiration is the sub-conscious, the desire to know and explore possibilities within oneself and the desire to be known intimately. The submitted surrealist and colorful works are the product of a stream-of-conscious process. With water-based brush pens and a plastic palette, Amber creates layered abstract shapes protruding from and surrounding feminine outlines. Layer over layer filled with lines and colorful gradients builds up the vivid imagery of her work and overtakes the feminine figure struggling to take form.
